Day of..

Be Prepared! I make sure to take a lot of time for the shoot, so plan on 1-2 hours for a session (for newborns 2-4 hours). Have outfits planned! Don't be afraid to have a few outfits in mind. Texture is EVERYTHING in pictures, don't be afraid of bright colors, fun tights, and unique hats! Try and stay away from wearing white or black and avoid shoes if possible! Again, simplicity is best, baby skin is my preferred outfit, so don't be afraid to request the baby in buff shots!

Newborns..

If you are pregnant and wanting newborn pictures contact me BEFORE you deliver, she I will fit you in my schedule by knowing a tentative delivery date. It's ideal to shoot newborns within 2-10 days of birth! Time goes fast after delivery so make sure and get everything scheduled before life turns upside down :)I try to allow for plenty of time for nursing and cuddling so plan on 2-4 hours. Outfit of choice for newborns - NO CLOTHES. Clothes on a newborn look unnatural! Keeping it simple produces those beautiful womb like images!

What to wear..

Clothing is very important in a photograph. I recommend wearing layers as much as possible to add interest and texture. I also recommend clothing with texture, such as chunky sweaters, clothing with ruffles, buttons, ribbon, embroidery, anything that has a grit to it.

Store suggestions: There are also many online boutiques that carry amazing European clothing such as: Oilily, Cakewalk, Petite Badou, Catamini, Duex per Duex. Also you can find a ton of super fun cute accessories at Etsy.com

Feel Free to bring a couple changes of clothing to the session, if your child is up for it we can change as many times as you like. Accessories are my favorite accent to a photograph. Hats, scarves, fun necklaces, funky boots, tights, etc. really can make a photograph more interesting.

Also, choosing clothing for a family session can be really stressful (believe me I know, I go through it every year!). Try picking a few colors and sticking to them for the entire family. Dark jeans are always a good choice and you can pair it with coordinating colors. Sometimes matching too much can look cheesy, so try to keep each person a little unique but staying within the color scheme.

Very Important!! Bring Chapstick! Chapped lips are really hard to photoshop...

Locations:

I love shooting on location like downtown Louisville (urban) or showcasing your own home. I also love shooting in open fields and parks, keeping your photo simple yet beautiful. At this time I do not offer Studio sessions.

My Style

I would say that my style is editorial, real, colorful and candid. I also really love adding fashion to my images through clothing, posing, and use of location. It is really important to me that everyone has fun on the photoshoot. I will do my best at capturing the true personality of your family or child in the images that I offer you.

I really believe in quality over quantity and I hope you feel the same way when you book a session with me, I hope to make it an experience to remember...
